My New Years Chick Flicks List

We are ready for the new year 😀

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

So, for my New Years, I had the pleasure of spending it with 6 awesome girls in a house we rented in the middle of nowhere.

So beautiful!

So beautiful!

Being the adventurous people that we are, we spent most of our time there chilling on the couch, watching movies, playing games and snacking. I had such an incredible time and looking back I realized that the movies we watched were a great collection of chick flicks worth sharing.

So here they are:

1. Mean Girls

“You can’t sit with us.”

This movie is and will always be a classic chick flick.Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler…. the list goes on! One of the girls had never seen the movie so we decided it was time this wrong be righted! Re-watching it after so many years, it still has some of the best one-liners I know. Also, I realized how relevant the moral of the movie still is to so many girls around the world today. #StopBullying

2. He’s Just Not That Into You

“If a guy doesn’t call you, he doesn’t want to call you.”

This movie is another example of a story that is still relevant today. Although the ending is very cheesy (although I love cheese! I mean who doesn’t #donthatecheese), the first half of the movie includes some important life lessons for girls who make up excuses for guys who clearly just are not interested.Don’t do it, people, if he/she isn’t treating you right, move on! You deserve better!

3. Pitch Perfect

“Even though some of you are pretty thin, you all have fat hearts, and that’s what matters.”

I. Love. This. Movie. It was so fun to watch this movie again. I also forgot how may hilarious lines were in this movie! I can’t wait for the sequel to come out in July… in the meantime I will just have to re-watch this one again and again.

4. Raise Your Voice

“My music became like a religion. It kept me sane.”

A movie about a music school with Hilary Duff, what more can I add? Despite the many comments in the movie about Jay’s hairstyle, I still think this movie is very cute. I am a sucker for movies revolving around music but especially this one because of how important the role of music is in helping Terri overcome the loss of her brother. This is something I can really relate to which just makes me like the movie even more.

5. Footloose

“Wait, wait, wait. Jump back. Are you kidding me? *Dancing* is against the law?”

From singing to dancing; this movie is awesome! I have to ashamedly admit that I had never seen this movie (original or remake) before. It may be old but it is a classic and the constant dancing just makes you want to get up and learn to line dance.

6. Mamma Mia! Sing-a-long version

“Typical isn’t it? You wait 20 years for a dad and then three come along at once.”

Just the words sing-a-long version and I was making popcorn and getting ready. The movie itself is not particularly exciting but the fact that it is made up of ABBA songs, features Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, and is set in Greece makes it worthy of this awesome list. We had a blast singing along so I would definitely recommend it for sleepovers.

Although this list is far from complete, I hope you enjoyed reading about them and perhaps are even inspired to watch one 🙂
