Just over a year ago, I wrote a blog post about the television series The Originals and its soundtrack. As I wrote then, one of the best parts about CW show is they play some really awesome music. Season 3 just started and I am already obsessed with so many songs in the soundtrack that I just had to share them with the world. Before I start I have to thank @cmollere on twitter. Chris works as a Film & TV Music Supervisor and every week he posts on twitter the songs used in both The Originals and the Vampire Diaries. So if you like the music you should definitely follow him! So without further ado, the songs:
Two Weeks – FKA Twigs
I love love love this song. Although I do not like the scene it played in (Team Haylijah). I have heard a lot about FKA Twigs but I never really took the time to listen to her music. I will now.
Afterlife – XYLØ
XYLØ is made up of Chase and Paige Duddy who released their first track America earlier this year. Their song L.A. Love Song is also pretty awesome.
Hey I Don’t Know – KONGOS
I recommended one of their songs last time (Come with me now). This one is just as good and from the same album
Excuse Me – Nothing but Thieves
This song is a typical Originals song. A little bit dark but oh so good. If you like their music and you are in the UK, you will be happy to know
Happy Idiot – TV on the Radio
I hadn’t heard anything about these guys before but I love their vibe and music. Their music, although not widely known, has been featured on various shows such as The Walking Dead and The Blacklist so you may recognize their sound.
Castle – Halsey
I love this girl’s voice and this song. Halsey is an incredible 21-year old songwriter. You may also recognize her name because she is featured on a track called The Feeling on Justin Bieber’s latest album Purpose.
Most of these songs are by people I had previously not heard before so again Thank you to the Originals for these great discoveries. Which songs did you like? Did I miss any songs from the show that you like? Let me know in the comments below! Or tweet me @theLydiareview.
Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss out on all the good stuff.
Love to all ❤
